Common Types Of Polishing Wheels

Polishing wheel, it is a pressing type flat wheel, which is formed by pressing several polishing wheels, and the outer surface of each polishing wheel is evenly coated with a layer of polishing oil. There is no need to add oil separately during the polishing process. It has a simple structure and is easy to use. The material is made of various elastic cotton cloth, fine felt, silk, deerskin, sisal, horsehair, etc.

There are several kinds of polishing wheels according to the manufacturing methods:

(1) Non-sewn whole cloth wheel. It is mostly made of soft cotton cloth, suitable for polishing complex shape workpieces, or for fine polishing of small workpieces.

(2) Suture type. It is mostly made of coarse cloth, non-woven cloth and thin flat cloth, etc. The suture can adopt concentric spiral and direct radiation form, and it is suitable for polishing various coatings and simpler shapes.

(3) Air-cooled cloth wheel. It adopts the 45-degree angle cutting method, which is in the shape of a circular wrinkle, with a metal disc in the middle, which has the characteristics of ventilation and heat dissipation, and is suitable for polishing large workpieces.

(4) Felt wheel. It is made of pure wool, with long milling time and tight organization and small pores. It is not restricted by warp and weft like fabrics, and has good wear resistance.

According to the main materials used, there are the following categories:

(1) Emery cloth page wheel. It is made of various abrasive cloths with different particle sizes and different abrasives (such as corundum, silicon carbide). Its high cutting rate is suitable for grinding, polishing, burring and finishing of various types of materials.

(2) Cotton polishing wheel. Made of different kinds of cotton cloth. Using different dipping methods and different abrasives, it can be used for semi-polishing, polishing and mirror polishing.

(3) Hemp and cotton mixed polishing wheel. Use linen cloth or lined with cotton cloth, usually through immersion treatment, with the help of various abrasives, preliminary polishing and polishing can be carried out.

(4) Synthetic material-non-woven polishing wheel. Synthetic materials are mostly made of nylon filaments, binders, and abrasives to make non-woven fabrics. Using these as raw materials, polishing wheels of various shapes are made. Because they contain abrasives, they are generally used for polishing without abrasives.
