How to improve the heat resistance and mechanical strength of diamond grinding cutting wheel

Sep 03, 2020

In order to improve the heat resistance and mechanical strength of the phenolic resin bond in the diamond grinding tool, various fillers are added to achieve the purpose of modifying the phenolic resin during the preparation of the resin grinding tool. If copper powder is added, the heat resistance of the resin can be improved; the addition of zinc oxide, chromium oxide and other substances can improve the mechanical strength of the resin; the addition of soft materials such as flake graphite and molybdenum disulfide can improve the resin bond grinding The grinding performance of the tool has a very good improvement effect. But the most effective way to improve the performance of phenolic resins is to add modifiers of organic substances. This may be because organic substances are more compatible with phenolic resins in terms of material structure and surface properties than inorganic substances.

Polyimide resin is a resin with the best heat resistance. The use of polyimide resin as a bonding agent to prepare diamond grinding cutting wheel first appeared in the United States, and was subsequently used and promoted worldwide. Its biggest feature is the heat of the grinding wheel. It has good stability and can be used for a long time at 250℃. Its durability is much higher than that of phenolic resin bond grinding wheels. It is often used for loading grinding of super-hard abrasive grinding wheels. Epoxy resin has good water resistance and strong adhesion, but its heat resistance is low. It is usually mixed with phenol resin or polyimide resin in the preparation process of abrasive tools. On the basis of thermal properties, the bonding strength of the resin bond can be improved. Polyurethane resins are also relatively low in heat resistance, but the abrasive tools made from them are stronger and generally suitable for light grinding.
